Platter Systems l ST-200E ST-270E ST-2000 I.R. UPGRADE FT3M Budget Platter
The FT3M is our lowest cost 3 deck 35mm electronic platter. Kinoton, who was honored with a Scientific and Technical Oscar® for inventing the platter, presents a rugged, advanced design mechanism with precise drive electronics. Robust make-up tables allow for quick and easy make-up and tear-down and assure reliable performance.
Design Kinoton FT3M platter systems are designed as a solid steel frame (pillar, foot and support arms) with 3 horizontal platters for film. All decks may be used for make-up and the middle for tear down of prints. Electronic control of the make-up table and the platter enable high speed operation. Each platter deck rests on a heavy support arm and rotates on a precision heavy duty ball bearing. Platter drive is via D.C. motors. The speed of the feed platter is controlled by the payout unit. Due to the simple design, film threading is easier than ever. The take-up platter speed is controlled by an arm monitoring the film tension. Most importantly the action of the platters is not directly controlled by the payout unit and takeup arm, but rather by a microproscessor control that integrates the raw data to provide smooth, safe platter action in any situation. Platter decks are available in two sizes: 49 inch (124 cm): Film capacity 18,600 ft max. (5,600 meters max.); approx. 3.6 hours with 0.16 mm film; 3.4 hours with 0.17 mm film 52 inch (132 cm): Film capacity 21,600 ft max. (6,500 meters max.); approx. 4.2 hours with 0.16 mm film; 4.0 hours with 0.17 mm film
Concept: The separate trailers, commercials and reels of the program are made up on a disk with an insert ring in place so that the beginning of a program is in the center. Each reel is spliced to the next beginning with the start of the program. After the last reel is on the deck, remove the insert ring and replace it with the payout unit (sometimes called a "brain"). Thread film through the projector as usual. The platter will feed as much film as necessary for this procedure. Now thread film through the guide rollers and wrap it around the insert ring on the second platter. The unit is now ready for operation and will automatically follow the start of the projector. Each platter can supply the projector with film or take up film coming from the projector. Simply place the payout unit onto that platter from which the film is supposed to come. A sensor within the payout unit signals automatically which platter feeds the projector with film. For film take-up just put the insert ring into the platter.
Safety Features: In the event of film break the takeup arm stops the platter. If high film tension is sensed, for example from a "brain wrap", a film over-tension switch will stop the projector and platter
Make-up Tables: The MT and UT horizontal make-up tables are available equipped to handle one or two reels of 2,000 ft (600 m) or 6,000 ft (1,800 m) capacity. Easily interchangeable shafts allow reels with 5/16", 1/2" or 9mm shaft holes to be used, and a trailer adapter for winding 2,000 ft (600 m) onto film cores is available. The reel motors are switchable to rotate both CW and CCW. On request the make-up table can be equipped with a second reel motor for bi-directional rewinding. Automatic shut-off is accomplished by a rotation sensing roller. The winding speed of the make-up table is electronically controlled and faster than ever before.

Other Options: For a fully automatic program without rethreading after each performance the Kinoton Endless Loop System can be installed instead of the upper deck on any of our platters. For installations with very limited space, see our SPT-5000 and SPT-5000K spool towers For short, repeating programs our Loop Cabinets are ideal. Or, for the ultimate in 100% automatic operation, maximum versatility and on screen reliability, consider our dual FP-30ER system
