Conversion Kits for Red Light Sound Scanning

Film laboratories have started producing prints with High Magenta or Cyan dye soundtracks instead of standard silver soundtracks. These soundtracks will not play back with standard incandescent exciter lamps. Also, some exciter lamps cannot be supplied any more because production has stopped.

For modern reverse-scan sound devices no conversion is required because they already use red LEDs. Replacing an older sound device with a modern reverse-scan sound device (which can also scan Dolby digital sound) is the best solution. These reverse-scan sound devices are described on other pages in this section.

For anyone who does not want to or cannot afford to upgrade to a reverse-scan sound device, Kinoton offers a lower cost solution with the following conversion kits.
