Kinoton Reverse Scan Sound Device (RSSD) lateral guide adjustment FAQ
Some time ago Kinoton stopped installing lateral guide roller adjusting screws on our soundheads. This avoids maladjustment by unqualified persons, and since the lateral guide assembly is so robust adjustment is almost never required. The following FAQ should answer any questions you may have.
1. Are all RSSD's shipped with some spacer washers so one can remove or add washers to move the roller in or out? Or could it happen that even with all washers removed the roller would not move enough and perhaps filing of the roller arm would be required?
Answer 1. All RSSD's are factory adjusted and tested. There is always at least one spacer washer installed. Due to the design it should never happen that all washers have to be removed or that filing of the roller or arm would be necessary. The washers are always placed between roller arm and RSSD body.
2. What is the typical number of washers installed to set buzz track?
Answer 2. According to the production technicians there is almost always a 0.5mm washer installed and during test procedures fine adjustments may require an additional 0.1mm or 0.2mm washer.
3. Are various sizes (thicknesses) of washer used, or only one?
Answer 3. Several sizes will be used for the correct adjustment (see 2.)
4. What is the size (thickness) of the washer(s)?
Answer 4. The following size washers are available: 0.1mm - 0.2mm - 0.3mm - 0.5mm - 1mm
5. What are the part number(s) of the washer(s)?
Answer 5. We have two part numbers for the distance washers:
5322 705 30994 - distance washer 0.5mm
5322 705 30995 - distance washer 0.1, 0.2 or 0.3mm (specify thickness when ordering)
